Notes on Arithmetic
(Notes on Boyhood pt.3)
Two-times-two
There was a boy named Charlie,
Who never went to school.
He thought himself quite clever:
But he grew to be a fool.
He didn’t know his two-times-two,
And couldn’t spell his name;
Or understand the simple rules
Of very simple games.
“Good Lord! You’re right, Mum!” Charlie said,
One day (as it was dawning),
And packed his bag and went to school
That day - and every morning.
And now he’s clever as clever can be
(Some say he’s made ‘Professor’!)
And all the nice girls fancy him.
(He’s quite a snazzy dresser...)

I think his brother who didn't get the message ended up in our parliament.
Better late than never, Charlie.
