Notes on Struggle
Or: 'Labour in Vain'
Said Spider to the Fly,
“It’s a mystery that you try
When the more you seem to struggle -
The deeper grows the muddle..!”
“I never will accept my fate:
I’ll struggle on! It’s not too late!
(There’s all this effluent yet to drink of!
And I’ve baby flies at home to think of..!)”
There was more that Fly had hoped to say
When ebbing fortunes ebbed away,
Along with role as ‘Parent-Provider’,
As by degrees,
Oh - woe betide her! -
Fly found herself
Inside the Spider.
Dec 24.

What a curious fable. And what is a conclusion? Struggle or labor?
